To make a long story short, i had some problems and had to migrate my neopancho.net domain to another company… so both, Neopancho’s Corner and El Rincón de NeoPancho have been down the last few days. Yesterday i had at least a splash page to welcome any bot (or even visitor!) that decided to check!.
Now, it’s (barely) back online but there are going to be some immediate changes; In neopancho.net there used to be 2 versions of the blog, El Rincón de NeoPancho (Spanish) and NeoPancho’s Corner (English)… now both blogs are going to be in different domains:
Both blogs mostly work, but there are a few things that I’m aware are not working too properly (like the comments), let alone the ones that I’m not aware! ^_^uuu
In Europe, the NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 1 received 4 editions thanks to Pix’n’love, vanilla (just the game), collector and 2 deluxe editions (SNK and Capcom), since the deluxe editions comes with everything the lesser ones included, we are going to take a look to all the editions!. Let’s start by taking a look to the (huge!) boxes of the 2 deluxe editions.
Once we open the box…
The first thing we see is a certificate of authenticity and the specific unit we got (there are only 300 units of each version).
In the second layer there is a LP record with music from some of the games of the collection; Kyo is in the cover of the SNK version and Ryu in the Capcom one, sadly both discs have the same music tracks and it’s note worthy that even if there is “Capcom version” of the LP, actually there isn’t any of the SNK vs Capcom melodies related to Capcom included.
Now we can see a envelope wich a replica of all the NeoGeo Pocket Color games included (once again, the European version).

Let’s take a better look.
Time to check the Collector edition, wich is quite gorgeous!.
First we can see some beautiful illustrated cards with the art of all the the games covers, but just the art, no logos or text; in the reverse we get some information about the game.

A replica of a European (or Japanese at first) NeoGeo Pocket game box, in which you can put a actual NGP game and a Switch one too. You can see in the pictures a comparison with a real NeoGeo Pocket game.
And finally, the game. It comes with a reversible cover (sadly, same illustration but different background color) and a instruction manual (which actually cover all the games).
Here we can see what is included in the the box; it shows the games and the goodies we are about to see. You can see covers for 4 Saturn games… technically, there are 5 different Saturn games releases included in the game card, but at the end of the day, it’s pretty much 3 games with slightly different versions.
Some games show more flesh than others but in general this famous game series is kind of like strip poker but with Mahjong (similar to Super Real Mahjong) mixed with super powers wich make it very special and fun, originally it showed some nipples here and there (nothing more)… but for Switch it all has been censored with cosmic beams from outer space, here you can see a comparison of the versions of Suchie Pai Special for Switch (technically the Saturn game), Saturn, 3DO and SNES (it’s a different game, but anyway); the 3DO is the only uncensored one (later a equivalent Saturn version was released) and oddly enough the one with the lower age rating (16 yearsor older)!.
This special edition is sadly kind of basic, just like the Xenoblade 3 one. This is the Japanese edition but it’s my understanding that all versions are pretty much identical content wise: the outer box, the game, an art book and 3 alternative covers, that’s it… Continue Reading →
In 1987 a Spanish game called Game Over 2 (“Phantis” originally in Spain) was released for the 8 bits computers at that time, it was a pretty good game that can be enjoyed even today, it just plays great… and in no way related to Game Over 😅. Now, why I’m talking about such an old game?… well, when checking the screenshots of Ultionus i had a “No way?!” moment, yep, it looked heavily inspired in Phantis, so i had to buy it 😅😅😅… now what i didn’t know yet is that it wasn’t just heavily inspired in Phantis, Ultionus is pretty much a Phantis remake and a superb one at that!.
