Touch Battle Tank SP (Wii U)

Touch Battle Tank is a long old friend of 3DS, actually there are 2 games for the 3DS (the Wii U game is an update of the first one). Touch Battle Tank SP is a conversion for Wii U only available (at the time of writting!) in Japan, it’s pretty much the 3DS game but with some extra levels. It’s a simple game graphic and sound wise but it controls quite well, you move the tank with the left stick and all the firing and aiming is done with the touch screen. There are 2 types of tanks:

  • Blue has better armor and it’s slower, its bullets can neutralize enemy fire and youcan actually charge your shoot for more powerfull bullets.
  • Red is the reverse of Blue, it’s quick and weak, it can jump to avoid enemy fire and its bullets are quicker and can bound against the walls.

In the touch screen (where we will be playing probably since it is easier to aim) we will have a zoomed in view so we can’t see the whole battle map.

Tank SP (Wii U)

Tank SP (Sensha SP) is a funny game about tanks released in the Japanese eShop. It’s clear that Arc System Works didn’t break the bank with this conversion, it’s the 3DS game (yes, it’s available for 3DS) with a multiplayer (2P) option added, but it’s lacking, for example, the use of the right stick which makes aiming more difficult than it should. There is an auto aim option and that’s the only good way of playing, you control the tank and keep shooting, hoping that the tank is actually aiming to something!. It won’t surprise to anyone, but it’s a nice game, the pity is that it could be so much better just by fixing the control…

Finally, DS games for the Wii U VC

We are still waiting for the N64 games that were announced 1,5 years ago,but hey, DS games are already here (in Japan that’s it) for the Wii U VC. The first game is Brain Training, and believe it or not, it’s free.

The emulator is very basic currently, it just play the game (properly) with no option of any kind like different visual filters or saving states. In this game you rotated the DS like if it were a book and in Wii U both DS screens are represented in the gamepad and TV screens (same i mean that TV and gamepad show the same). It’s stated that the emulator will be updated eventually to give the players more options.

Beautiful figure of Mai Shiranui

Superb Mai Shiranui figure of Max Factory sculpted by Takeshi Hamasaki using the character design of Kinu Nishimura for SNK vs Capcom 2. That’s all there is need to say.

It has already a few years but it’s not hard to get if you don’t mind getting it used (which can be in mint condition), but you have to take some caution because there are plenty of fakes figure out there. I have a new original unit for auction, if you are interested, check it out!

3D Out Run (3DS)

It’s a wonderful surprise, that’s what this game  is. After playing 3D Galaxy Force II and After Burner, M2 (team responsible for the conversion) showed me that games with scaling look nothing short of outstanding in 3D, with a level of deep that put to shame most 3DS games. About the game… well, it’s Out Run, the arcade game, but with a ton of options (screen, control…) and 2 really nice new melodies. The only problem is that probably due to not having the license, thwy changed the car and it isn’t a Ferrari, the car looks a little weird at first, but oh well, it’s a small price to pay against the other option, not getting the game because they lack the license.
